So, my husband is scared that he is going to inject a bubble directly into a vein in his bloodstream and die. We are doing SQ injections and I need some helpful info to help reassure him. He kind of freaked out because he knicked a vessel on one shot and bled some. Now he is scared of this. Maybe he should try sublingual next time! lol!

It takes a LOT of air bubbles to kill you.. I hit a vien freaked out too and went to subl.. that to me was a pain. It lasted a week I think. Im back to inj in my stomach and it doesn't scare me now.. I talked to my dr about the vein air bubble issues lol always pull back to make sure your not in a vein if you are pull it out and redo the inj in a diff spot.. Before you do the inj flick the syringe to get them to go up to the needle and push up a little to get them out..

We had a nurse on the forum who told us that it would take over 1/2cc (maybe it was a full 1cc) of air directly in the vein to cause trouble. That is a LOT of air!! If you are doing subQ you will have NO problem! I've gotten a couple of tiny little bubbles and they don't cause a problem in the tissues. Just absorbed, disappated. It is common to hit those tiny little blood vessels right under the skin, but you can't possibly get enough air into them to be a problem. I always do my injections in my belly because I know there aren't any large veins anywhere close. I've got quite a few in my thighs now that so much fat is gone. So I avoid my thighs!!! Butt would be OK, too, but I don't like to twist around to reach giggle
