Many people use insulin syringes. They are available through the different supply companies: research supply, gpz services, etc...

I have read that people have been able to get them at Wal-Mart, Sams, and other local pharmacies.

That's all I use! The other's are too big and intimidating to me!! I bought a box of 100 for somewhere around $12 at Sam's Club. The 31 gauge 1/2 inch .50 cc is what I bought.

Same here. I also use insulin only. I like to use the front of my thigh about 4 inches above my knees for my shot location, and they work just fine. So far so good on my results. 13 day and 13 lbs. !!!!

So, since my husband has decided to do this along with me (woohoo) our insulin needle supply is getting low. How do I ask for them at the Wal-Mart pharmacy? I guess I want to sound like a pro when I ask for them! big grin

Funny winking I just bought some at Costco and I just walked up and asked if they had insulin needles in stock. They said "yes, what size" so I said "1CC in 29 or 30"...I didn't have any problems...good luck! Some places just won't do it. A lot of my friends have had problems.

Yeah, I buy mine a SAM's club and I tell them the exact size, gauge and length and there are no questions asked. You could even bring in the box from your current stock and say can I have a box of these?

HAHAHA laugh 4 laugh 4 Okay, so funny story right...

My mom (Shallena) thought we were going to be on COPS... here's how it happened...

HCG and all supplies arrived... except the syringes. We need about 10 (5 EACH) to last us til the order came in...
So my mom asks that I stop at a pharmacy to get some insulin needles. I am now FREAKING out... what do I say? What will they do if they find out I am not diabetic?
I LITERALLY plan all my answers to the questions sitting in the parking lot...
Here's my story:
I have a diabetic Grandma... She's coming to visit... oh no... she forgot to pack enough insulin needles... "Don't worry Gramma! I'll save you!"

SO I walk up to the pharmacy counter.

ME: ummm I, uhh... Do you have insulin needles?
Pharmacist: Yes... are you diabetic?
ME: yuhh... no... my grandma is... she's here
Pharmacist: where?
ME: at home... ummm my home, not her home... ummm...
Pharmacist: Yes?
Me: ummm My sister is having a baby, and my grandma wants to see it.
Pharmacist: So?
ME: She forgot her needles.
Pharmacist: A diabetic forgot their needles?
ME: Well, she brought some... but they are planning a c-section... and ummm she doesn't have enough to last the rest of the... week.... end....
Pharmacist: What size does she use?
ME: ummm size? Medium?
Pharmacist: Umm I'll just give you the largest size so she can use whatever she needs...
ME: THANK YOU!!... I mean... Thanks...
Pharmacist: How many does she need?
ME: 8... no 10!
Pharmacist: That will be $15.00
ME: WHAT?!?!!? okay.....

So I hurry to my moms... tell her my story... and she SWEARS all of you guys were going to be seeing us on cops... laugh 4

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!giggly bellylaugh ha ha ha

I always get the 0.5cc syringes and have recently discovered the 0.3cc syringes which I've gotten. It is way easier to measure the smaller doses more accurately. I don't care what the gauge is, 29-31, it all feels the same to me . . . . NOTHING! winky

It is definately better to take an old package/boxtop with you. At least that gives the pharmacy clerk the sense that you've had them before!

I DID go to a Walgreen's for my box of 100... only... it was NOT "my" store.. I went to one a few miles away!!

Now that I've moved.. I'll have to try again before next round.

I've always used them - 1/2 CC - and Love them!!!

PostSubject: Re: Insulin syringes   Mon May 12 2008, 14:28

I bought insulin syringes last week at walmart and ended up a bit frustrated with the whole experience. I wrote down exactly what I wanted on a piece of paper so I wouldnt be confused about the sizes. I read it to the clerk and she asked if she could just see it so she could look at it while she went to find them for me. So shes over looking through the boxes and one of the pharmacy men (in the white coat)walks up and looks at the piece of paper then hands her the box. I buy them, strut out the door everything is great. I get home a couple hours later I decided to look at the supplies I have and low and behold they are the wrong size. I drive back to walmart and they will not return them because of a federal law. I go over to the pharmacy and the same man is there, now its a different counter clerk. I explain to her what happened show her the paper with the sizes. She throws up her hands and exclaims " OH I CANT EVEN TOUCH THE BAG OF NEEDLES!" I asked her if she had a phobia she replied "There is a federal we cannot return them" ....hmmm her initial reaction seemed a bit much. So she has me wait while she walks 2 feet over to talk with the ominous white coat. I addressed him and said "You are the one that looked at my paper and handed the clerk the wrong syringes" He looked at me (so I know he heard me because theres about 6 feet between the counter and his stoop)He tells the lady to tell me that because of a federal law once they are purchased they cannot be returned reguardless of being unopened. I asked if they would credit me since it was his mistake. I received a big "No you should have checked" He is a licensed worker and I thought he had the ability to match numbers on a box. I ended up having to buy more AND they said they do not make 1/2" needle length with 31 gauge. -I know for a fact this is not true. so now I have the 30 gauge. I had to vent this out-I left with a red face and hot ears.
