| Hi! I am new and have a couple of questions??
First, is anyone doing the 2 tsp. of coconut oil? I have read somewhere that it should be eaten at night?? If so, can't we just use it in salad dressing or something??
Second, how strict is everyone w/ the eating? Is an occasional pasta okay (whole wheat)?
I am finding it very tempting to eat w/ my family. There are six of us and I do all of the cooking. I have done fairly well...only had one meatball in the 7 days in phase 2!!
Thank you all so much for the help!! Also, how do I start a journal??

| Sparkie- coconut oil and pasta are NOT a part of the P2 protocol. If you don't have Dr. S manuscript, go download it and read it thoroughly. You are only allowed 100 g meat, 1 serving of the allowed veggies, 1 allowed fruit and either a grissini or a melba toast. Period. Save the cocunut oil for P3/4 and the whole wheat pasta for P4.
To start a journal go to the journal section. At the top it say post new. Click on it. Type in the title of your journal in the subject line. And viola, your journal is started.
Glad to have you with us on the forum!!!!!!!!!! _________________

| Hi Sparky!!! Welcome!!!! Artic is absolutely right. No oils or fats of any kind at all, and no carbs that are not in the limited fruits and veggies on the list.
There are clinics all over that try to make the menu more "palatable" (sp??), but all that does is slow down your results. Keep in mind that you can do ANYTHING for 6 weeks if the results are going to be so fantastic!!!
Visit our Phase 2 Recipes and you will see some incredible things to make that will make you forget what your family is eating. They may even want some of yours! We have some great chefs onboard here and they are sharing all their ideas. _________________

| Thanks for the quick responses!!
Arctic...I used to live in Anchorage...about 10 years ago...wow, what an experience!!
Anywho, I have read and re-read Dr. S protocol and try to follow it. My BFF has the book by Kevin T. and it has some "other" things. The coconut oil is p1 in that book. I am not sure of the benefits of coconut oil and that is why I was asking. ??
Grammasmitty...Thanks for the directions to recipes. I have been eating ALOT of salad to be safe. :) Not that I am bored with that, but....I think my ears are getting longer and my nose is starting to twitch... :lol 3:
Okay...now...about salad and veggies: I was making my salad w/ romaine, tomato, green onion and then my 3.5 oz of approved meat. I am I allowed all those veggies at once? I have read/been told contradicting things. My weight loss has been pretty consistent thus far (about 1.5 lbs a day) but if I am doing things wrong and could be losing more.... :food: |

| | Coconut oil is great to cook with and have on salads if you are not in phase 2. The benefits of coconut oil are many. Go to www.mercola.com and search on coconut oil to see all the benefits. But as the others have said, definitely a no-no on phase 2. :D |

| And I love the flavor coconut oil gives to food . . . but alas, we have to wait for p3-4.
Shhhh, don't tell everyone you are losing 1.5 avg a day . . . and want to try for FASTER!! :errrrr:
According to Dr. S we are NOT to mix our veggies. Many of us do mix our veggies, making sure we don't over do and go over the 500 cal limit. I don't know that not mixing will give you faster loss or not. But the official word is do not mix. _________________

| Okay....I got the KT book in my hands and I see coconut oil in phase 3!! You all have your acts together!!
GrammaS...I know, I won't mention it again!! :wink 4: Are we supposed to counting calories? I was just eating what I was told (one apple, 3.5 oz of meat and some romaine) before I was told I could mix my veggies. Maybe I should just start counting calories and see where I stand.
I do have to say one thing, I just can't believe I am not starving!! You have no idea how exciting this is for me!!
I am sure I will have a million more questions and I am sure you all will have the answers!! My journal should be started this evening. I did take before pictures but have put them in a hidden file so no one can see them! Too Scary!!
Thanks to everyone who posts journals, I have been getting great info from them! Congrats to all the LOSERS!!

| It doesn't !! It is just that several of us have. Like a regular garden style salad. Or stir fried veggies with our protien. That is a decision you will have to make for yourself. Good luck whatever you decide to do. This protocol work great!! _________________

| Don't know how I missed this post! I am on a different computer and it doesn't always show me the new ones.
Anyway, If you've got KT's book you have all the basic info on the foods you can have. I've got a spreadsheet I'll send by email if you will PM me your email address. It has a neat little calculator and a food diary so you can easily watch how you do day to day. It won't take long and you won't need to do that.
Simeons didn't focus on the calories but on the foods. I believe he doesn't want us using calorie counters as a crutch. He gives us very specific amounts of proteins and guidelines for eating them (vary them daily). Other than that, it is just vauge. Same thing when you get to p3. He wants us to learn to live and not focus on the mechanics.
According to Dr. S you are NOT supposed to mix veggies. But many of us do, once we get used to the protocol and how our bodies handle it. But if you decide to mix veggies and find you are not losing as well, that is something to revisit and maybe stop to see if there is a difference. _________________
