| | I just wanted to know if anyone knows anything one way or the other about eggs as a serving of protein instead of chicken or steak??? I don't see it mentioned anywhere in the protocal or in the book but I love hard boiled eggs, and just wonder if that is an option??? Also, if I want to cook a bunch of chicken all at once and then take out each day to use, does anyone know how I would convert to the proper weight after it's cooked???? (I know of course it will be less) Thankyou, I looked around and didn't see either of these issues mentioned.... any insight would be appreciated!! |

| To the best of my knowledge you can have 1 egg with yolk and add two egg whites to it so I guess one boiled egg would fit the criteria.
As for the chicken, I cut mine up and weigh it before I cook it and then I cook enough for two days. If you weighed it after it was cooked it would not be accurate. _________________

| Hi elcentrorosesmom, I would be careful about having the eggs too often though. It really is not part of the protocol and they do have a higher fat content. 1 hard boiled egg has 5 grams of fat versus 100 grams of chicken having 1 gram of fat or 100 grams of ground buffalo meat has 1 gram of fat. |

| This is what Simeons says in P&I:
Many patients ask why eggs are not allowed. The contents of two good sized eggs are roughly equivalent to 100 grams of meat, but unfortunately the yolk contains a large amount of fat, which is undesirable. Very occasionally we allow egg - boiled, poached or raw -to patients who develop an aversion to meat, but in this case they must add the white of three eggs to the one they eat whole. In countries where cottage cheese made from skimmed milk is available 100 grams may occasionally be used instead of the meat, but no other cheeses are allowed. _________________

| Don't quote me on this, but I have weighed my chicken before at 100 grams (3.3oz) and then after cooking about (2.8oz). It could be different with other meats, but that is what I have found with chicken. _________________ My Progress

| The official equivalent is 100g = 3.5 oz.
The easiest thing to do is to cut your chicken up, weigh the whole thing and divide into how many portions it will make. Once it is cooked, weigh the whole thing again and divide that by how many portions you need to make. Then weigh and divide into that many portions. _________________
