Well that is a good question, it's not all water but it is less sugar and less overall carbohydrates than an equal amount of apple but it has much less fiber than apple or strawberries so perhaps it is the fiber which is the important thing. I did a comparison of 100 grams of apple vs 100 grams of strawberries vs 100 grams of watermelon, here is how it stacked up:

Watermelon-7.5 Carbs, 6.2 sugars, .4 fiber, 30 calories
Apples-14.0 Carbs, 10.0 sugars, 2.0 fiber, 52 calories
Strawberries-7.7 Carbs, 4.9 sugars, 2.0 fiber, 32 calories

I like the way the comparison came out. I think I will try some watermelon and see if it changes my weight loss.

How do you compare different foods, I would like to learn.

Thanks cheering

Go to www.nutritiondata.com and enter the foods you are looking for. It gives you a total nutritional analysis including the glycemic index for a food. Be careful though when you see a ~ next to the sugar or starch content, it doesn't mean there is none it means it hasn't been established yet.
