PostSubject: Phase 2 alternative diet?   Mon Jan 14 2008, 18:31

I seem to recall that I read somewhere, I thought it was in KT's book but cannot find where now, that there is an alternative to using hCG for phase 2. Some type of protein diet. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if so...what is the name of the diet and where do I find an outline of it?
It ws the next best alternative after sublingual hCG.
Thanks!!

Bethinmn, there is an oral hcg alternative called ora thin. Look for a post by benzgirl, I think it's in the hcg summaries but I'm not sure. She has a link to the site that sells it. I think Reddee and Chad both used it for their 1st round too.

You can also used Almased which is The Turbo Protein Diet. The website is: www.almased.com

In KT's book all of the information for this is on P. 118. I don't know of anyone who has used this method yet...so if you decide to do this...please let us know the resluts.

One thing it does say in the book about this method is this: "This protocol is not as effective as the Simeon's "weight loss cure protocol" with hCG. However, it is the next best alternative. If you do this protocol you must do all the steps in P1 and you must do the Candida cleanse, liver cleanse, and parasite cleanse in P4 in order to achieve the same results".

Is this what you were looking for?

Yes Denise, that is what I was looking for !! Thanks so much!!! It isn't for me though, my 14 year old wants to lose a few lbs, she is heavier in the butt and thighs as I was as a kid and I will not let her do the shots. I think that would be crazy so I wanted to research some other options for her that don't require her to count calories and then screw up her metabolism. I just want her to do some reading about making some better food choices backed by some research. It's easier to have it all compiled in one place though than for me to have her read article after article to back up the info I give her.
So now I have to read that method and see if it is what I am looking for for her.
Thanks so much for the help!!!!! I thought I was going insane when I couldn't find it in the book....I just knew it was there.

I checked out the website and it isn't quite what I thought it was. I was expecting an atkins type diet where they outline food to eat and not eat and what combinations of food to eat together, that sort of thing. This was selling a meal replacement/supplement powder drink mix. I think I am going to have to have her do atkins. I do not want to get her started on thinking it is okay to replace food with powdered drink mixes.

Beth- have you checked out the Sonoma Diet? Minus the wine, I think it might be a good way for her to lose a little. It is based on food choices and plate/bowl size and not so much counting calories, etc. In fact, I plan to have my whole family switch over to the long-term maintenance plan and do a Sonoma/Mediteranean diet once I get all this weight off. The book is really cheap on ebay right now and through Amazon. Although if you have a used bookstore in town, I bet you could find it cheap there as well. They also have a website so you can look and see if it is something you guys even want to do.

I have had great success on Atkins. The only problem is that no/low carbs is really very difficult to maintain for a life time. And when you go off the wagon, the weight just piles back on. I would hate to see your daughter get caught up in the cycle. If I could have just stayed on the program for the rest of my life, I wouldn't be here. But I love pasta and fresh baked bread and I want to be able to have a piece of birthday cake or an ice cream cone, etc. And after several years of deprivation, when I fell off the wagon it just seemed that the weight piled on and on and on.

Anyway. Just some food for thought.

Thanks Dawn, I'll check that out!

I had great results with Atkins too until I had my 3rd child then it did not work for me anymore. I agree with you on the no starch thing, that was pretty hard to do long term.

Beth, I wonder why it is you don't want her doing the hcg? If she has begin her periods, it would be fine. That is the only qualification I've ever come across in all my readings. Her body already produces a small amount of hcg each month as it is. If she doesn't have much to lose, or just a little rescupting, 23 injections isn't much and she would never step foot into that diet cycle that destroyed us. Just wondering moving flower

Linda, I had no idea. I was just under the impression and I do not know why...that she was too young to do the hCG. She has started her periods so that part would be covered. I would be very interested to know of who the youngest person recently was that did the injections and how their results were. Can you please ask the gal who works with the doc if they have worked with someone as young as her and how it worked out.
She is 5 feet tall, weighs 110 and is a size 2 but it is all in her thighs and butt. She hates it, and I remember how I felt at her age with the same body. She is very active and is quite muscular. She won't be getting any taller either, she has reached her full height. If you find out any details on theri experience I would really appreciate hearing about it.
In the meantime I am having her eat whatever she wants and as much of it as she wants except for sugars and starches. She is doing some weight training and aerobic with me as well.

Just thought I'd interject...

I thought I read in the protocol that you can have little boys start as early as two or something like that and girls, as GS said, after they start their period. Personally, if my kiddo has the gene Dr S talks about that was passed down through me or my husband (both have overweight relatives somewhere in our lines), then I would rather help him regulate his metabolism/hypothalamus than get him on the dieting yo-yo like I was. After the resculpting part, I would make sure that we just ate balance. I've thought about it for sure...my son is 4 and while not overweight he is very large...100% height and weight and looks "baby-ish" still with the fat he has. I am in no way putting him on a diet, I just make sure he eats a good quantity of the healthy stuff and gets all his vitamins and minerals and that he gets a cookie or two if he wants one...and stops at that. That is where I've gotten into trouble personally. I'd have one and then think, "Well, I've already RUINED my diet, I may as well have a dozen". Long story short, for me, I'm all about moderation...that's why this diet is so appealing to me. I don't want to feel guilty having a cookie anymore, and I want to stop after that one or two! Haha!

Sorry, didn't mean to rant in your question. I don't think it would be harmful at all for your daughter, especially if she is storing fat in the "abnormal store" places (Dr S describes these signs...very interesting...I look at the way weight is carried a lot differently now).
