 | Subject: why avoid hcg shots during your period? Thu Jul 10 2008, 09:43 | |
| | does anyone know why we should avoid the shots at this time of the month. dr. simeons just said ' no shots during this time'. i don't think he explained why. is it because the hcg won't work because of our hormones or because it could mess up our hormones? i'd like to continue during my period unless it is in some way dangerous to do so. |

| My understanding is that there are 2 possible reasons:
1- Your menses may be heavier and possibly more cramps, etc. 2- You normally retain water during this time and you may not see losses on the scale.
From what I see, many are stopping injections for the 1st day or 2 and then resuming or some are not stopping at all and injecting right through it. I guess it all depends on if you normally have cramps and heavy periods. |

| This is my third month on the hCG protocol, and I've noticed a couple of things with periods - but take this with a grain of salt, because I have PCOS. The first month, I didn't take my shots during; and it was just like it always is - which isn't fun. LOL
The second month, I was on phase 3, and it was different...heavier & more painful.
This week, I'm back on the shots, and experiencing my period again, but I just started my shots, so there was no way in heck that I was stopping again, even for a couple of days. It's been like it was the first time around, and I've lost 5 lbs. this week.
As it so happens, I was thinking about water retention this morning, and I'm excited to see what the beginning of next week will look like. Hopefully it'll be a good thing.
OH - I almost forgot...take a few nice long walks whilst on your period (if you think of it) - the book says that excessive exercise isn't good on the protocol, but a good long walk can help move fluids (i.e., water retention) right along...so drink lots of H2O, and walk...it's been working for me~ but everyone's different. _________________
