| One of my girlfriends is also on Hcg injections for weight loss, she had taken a pregancy test and got a faint positive, this was about an hr after she did her injection, could the Hcg have given her a false positive? She wants to know before she tells her husband and I told her I would ask all of you intelligent ladies here!!!
Thanks!
Let me know asap as she is going CRAZY!! _________________

| | Well, I would take another preg. test. Has she missed her period? It doesn't seem likely that the small amount of hcg in the system that we have would show up on the test unless you put it directly on the test strip itself (ie, not diluted with urine). All the best for her! |

| She doesnt know if she missed her period. Since she has been on Hcg, which has been about 30 days shes said, she skipped her sugar pills in her birth control so she didnt have to stop her shots. She hasnt missed one pill. She just doesnt want to get her hopes up since they have been trying to have a baby for like 2 yrs!! She got on birth control when she started doing the Hcg so that she could lose the weight and wait to try again until after she was done. What do you think? _________________

| That would be my luck.. try to get preg then take the pill to prevent it to lose weight and bam.. lol Maybe take another test if all else fails she could go have the dr check and see and then tell her husband if she is. _________________

| I was planning on getting some pregnancy tests today and see if it shows me a false positive. I will let you know, but I just bet its a false positive, though, Im no Doctor. _________________ Round 1

| Ok...I just called and asked a nurse and he said that it could just be the Hcg giving her the false positive, even at just 200iu. Hmmm...he didnt seem too sure of his answer. I'm gonna call and ask Ghi Medical, which is who I go through and see what they say. They did tell her to stop her shots immediately....we'll see huh? Does any one evem know of any one who got pregnant while on Hcg?? Kinda weird! _________________

| OK so just a quick update, we still have no definite answer as to whether she is or isnt because no one is giving either of us a direct answer. If any one else has any helpful information, or if you would just like to call your clinic and ask...she would greatly appreciate it! Like I said, her and her husband have been trying for so long, she doesnt want to get her hopes up but cant help it!!! _________________

| I suggest she make an appt with her Doctor and find out for sure. The hcg could give a false positive but not likely so she should stop her injections immediately and go in to see her Dr. after 72 hours off. (That's how long it takes to leave our system completely).... |

| I completely agree. She talked to her Dr and her Dr said that it is unlikely that it would show up on a urine test...thats kind of a gray area that they haven't gotten a lot of information about!!!
So yes, she is stopping her shots, retesting and then getting blood test done....
Please, every one, pray for Heather...I hope she is pregnant...she really deserves this and I know there has never been a baby more wanted!! _________________

| The best info I can give you is to have her stop the injections for several days and do the test again. This is what Dr. S said in pounds and inches. Even HE didn't mess with hcg when pregnancy was involved. _________________

| Ok so right now it is really looking like its just a false positive. She started to have some light bleeding (since she stopped her birthcontrol completely when she thought she might be pregnant) and the pregnancy test she took today came up negative :( I hope all the best for her in the future....but now we all know...even a 200iu shot, can indeed give a false positive pregnancy test.
I hope this situation helps other women in the future who may come across this thread with the same problem!!
Thank all of you for your help and answers! Thanks!! _________________

| Oh, I so had my fingers crossed for your friend. I'm sorry it was a false alarm.
It's going to take her losing all of her weight, getting to be a total hot babe, and that's when she'll get pregnant! _________________
