Ok All:
My daughter, also on here as "Ladybezor", has not had a period since the end of November or first of December. (preface: she has had two miscarriages)
She started the protocol in October. She is in week 2 of phase 2 round 2. She thinks she may be pregnant.
She went to buy a pregnancy test and it came up positive.
My questions are:
1. Could the HCG shots make her have a false positive test?

2. Should she stop the shots till she sees a doctor?

Loni, I have heard two versions of this from people, that yes it can produce a false positive and no it can't.

Dr S tells us:

Quote:
It must also be mentioned that when a woman becomes pregnant during treatment - and this is by no means uncommon - she at once ceases to lose weight. An unexplained arrest of reduction has on several occasions raised our suspicion before the first period was missed. If in such cases, menstruation is delayed, we stop injecting and do a precipitation test five days later. No pregnancy test should be carried out earlier than five days after the last injection, as otherwise the HCG may give a false positive result.

So it says that she will at ONCE stop losing weight, has she done that? Also he says that the shots must be stopped for 5 days before a test is given.

Yes I have had a stopping of weightloss even when I am very strict I have seen either no loss or a gain followed a few days later by a slight loss just to have another gain the next day.. I have pain in my lower back (not normal) an occasional pain in my stomach right above my pubic born and most notabley I have sore tissues in my chest... I know you all wanted to know ... the thing is I can't wait 5 days from when I think I am because of my history of miscarraige the doctor said the next one I would have to get into a dr asap to start some hormons to see if they could stablize it and help me maintain it.

Then sweetie, I don't know what to tell you, all I can go is from what the doctor says in his manuscript. He says it takes 5 days for the test to be true, are you still on injections right now?

my sister took a pregnancy test(she thought that was how to test the potency of her hcg!)any how it came out negative. you probably need to get into your ob for some progesterone pills that should help you preserve the pregnancy! congratulations and good luck! cheerleader 2 cheerleader 2

Thank you for everyones support. I did go to the dr yesterday but I still dont know.. they did a urine test and it turned out positive of course but they also did blood test and it wont be in til this morning... I am on pins and needles waiting to find out. The dr was really nice til he found out i was doing hcg then he turned into a real dick so if I am ( and I am hoping I am) then I will probably be on the hunt for a good dr. He said my blood has to show 4000 unites of hcg to be considered pregnant ...

Don't you just love doctors who are so full of themselves they can't get past it to really help the patient who is trying the best they can to do something positive?

All the best with the test results!!! I am about as excited as you to hear what they say!! yahoo
