PostSubject: Callahan technique/Lotion   Thu Jul 05 2007, 18:18

Hi,

I'm curious if anyone is using the Callahan techniques and what you think of them? I kind of forgot about it and wish I would have tried it at the 4th of July party when I was struggling so much.

Also, I'm kind of losing it over not being able to use lotion. My hands and feet are so dry it's making me a little crazy but I don't want to jeopardize my happy scale moment in the morning by "lubing up". What are everyone's feelings about changing your personal products? I haven't made a lot of changes but I was using Aveda or Origins stuff to begin with and they don't seem to have the taboo ingredients. I haven't altered my makeup either but I wasn't using a liquid foundation.

Simeons manuscript mentions that if you must have oils or lotions to use mineral oil so I bought the smallest bottle I could find of it but I really only used it a few times on my hands and around my eyes and occasionally on my feet. It didn't seem to affect my weight loss. Good luck. :flower:

okay, this is going to sound freaky weird but, try coffee grounds. Don't ask, just grab some out of the filter and rub it on your hands, feet, whatever

I swear it works and your skin is baby soft.

I used all of my normal products; soap, lotions etc and it did not effect my weight loss. I say trial and error~do what works best for you!

Lindsay used the callahan tech. and actually had posted it on the previous site that no longer is available to us......maybe she'll see your post and do it here also. I wish I had a copy of it also to print out. You also can do a web search using the term and it will pull up info about it. They show some demos they did on TV and you can tell the host were skeptical and then they blank out the actual technic. being done to return for him to say he could not believe but he really did not want that brownie...no desire for it at all. You could tell it really shocked him. I'm fairly familure with how he reacts because it was taped from channel 8 in our area of the Morning Exchange with Fred Griffith.

hi! I do use the Callahan technique and it really works for me. Actually, most of the time when I think about it I don't have the book, so I just kinda do what I remember. I actually did it to get over my fear of injecting myself and that worked great! Then to get rid of food cravings (esp at night) and it also worked. It's funny, even when you find something that works, you forget to do it... I haven't done it in a while. I was having cravings last week, but they've disappeared now on their own (thanks hCG!).

Anyway, on the other site I actually typed it out from the book (couldn't find it online) and then the site went down! So I'll type it up again (saved in a word doc this time! ) So look for that soon cuz it works! :D

Oh, and I've been using aloe vera gel and corn husker's lotion for moisturizers. Except for my lips and hands, my skin's been normal.

I use the aloe vera after I get out of the shower on my face and hands and it seals in the moisture (also makes me face feel firm).

I use the corn husker's lotion sparingly because it's not organic, but it's oil free and it helped when my hands were really dry and cracked.

I also have a dry brush and use that before most baths and showers, and that helps a lot. :)

Alright, here is the Callahan technique for addictive urges - calming those food cravings while we wait for the protocol to eliminate them for us. :)

Dr. Roger J. Callahan, Ph.D. developed the therapy and I highly recommend his book Tapping the Healer Within. For further explanation of the technique:
http://www.fsu.edu/~trauma/v3i2art3.html

Very simply, you tap along points in your body while thinking about what is bothering you, and you release the negative energy with that specific issue.

Addictive Urge Algorithm – First Use

1. Tune the Thought Field – that is, intentionally think about the addictive urge you want to treat.
2. Rate the intensity of your addictive urge at this moment, using the Subjective Units of Distress (SUD) scale. On this scale, 10 is the most intense it could possibly be, and 1 indicates absolutely no trace of it. Write down the SUD rating
3. Using two fingers of one hand, tap five times under the eye, about an inch below the bottom of the center of the bony orbit, high on the cheek. Tap firmly, but not hard enough to cause pain.
4. Tap solidly five times under the arm, about four inches directly below the armpit, using rigid fingers. IN men, this spot is under the arm about even with the nipple. Women can locate this spot by tapping at about the center of the bra under the arm.
5. Tap the “collarbone point.” To locate it, take two fingers of either hand and run them down the center of the throat to the top of the center collarbone notch. This is approximately even with the spot where a man would knot his tie. From there, move straight down an additional inch. Then move to the right one inch. Tap this point five times.
6. Take a second SUD rating and write it down. If it has decreased two or more points (which will be the case for most people), then continue with step 7 below. If there was no change, however, or if the change in the SUD was only 1 point, perform the correction for a psychological reversal (see below). Then repeat steps 1 though 6.
7. Perform the nine gamut treatments. Locate the gamut spot on the back of the hand, about an inch below the raised knuckles of the ring finger and little finger when making a fist. Begin tapping the gamut spot with two fingers of the opposite hand, about three to five times per second, and continue tapping while performing all nine steps below (tap five or six times for each of the nine gamut positions). It is very important to tap the gamut spot throughout all nine of these gamut treatments:
a. Open the eyes
b. Close the eyes
c. Open the eyes and point them down and to the left
d. Point the eyes down and to the right.
e. Whirl the eyes around in a circle in one direction
f. Whirl the eyes around in the opposite direction.
g. Hum a few bars of any tune aloud (more than a single note; rest the eyes).
h. Count aloud from one to five.
i. Hum the tune again
8. Tap five times under the eye again.
9. Tap five times under the arm again.
10. Tap the collarbone point five times again.
11. Take still another SUD rating and write it down. If it has declined to 1 (which will happen with most people), move to step 12 below. But if it has decreased significantly yet is still not a 1, perform the mini PR correction as described below, and then repeat the treatment steps above.
12. To ensure that the improvements you’ve made are complete, perform the floor-to-ceiling eye roll (when the SUD is 2 or lower): Hold your head level and move your eyes down. Then begin tapping the gamut point as you move your eyes upward.

Correct a psychological reversal:

1. Find the “PR spot”. It is located on the outside edge of the hand, about midway between the wrist and the base of the little finger. This is the point where you might make contact when delivering a “karate chop.”

Mini PR

1. Find the PR spot mentioned above, and tap the spot about fifteen times with two fingers of the opposite hand.
