| I went in a infared sauna for 30 min today for the first time.. it was pretty much what I expected, didnt sweat as much as I would of liked though.
Does anybody have any information on these things that I might like to know about?
Anyone whose been in them, does it have a noticable effect on weight loss, skin care, etc? |

| I use a sauna and my skin is so much clearer since I've been using it. I use a dry brush while in the suana. I also noticed on the days using the sauna, I little better losses usually. I just feel so good after using them. I don't know what an infrared sauna is as opposed to the sauna that I use but I imagine it's the same.
PS: I turn it to the highest heat and bring a bottle of water in with me. I usually stay in for about 40 minutes tops. |

| Rockgirl,
I used a Far Infrared Sauna on my first round of Phase 2 every day except weekends and had great losses. I absolutely love them and wish I could afford to have one in my home. Because it is a Far Infrared and not a conventional sauna the health benefits are far better. I dumps toxins at a far faster rate than conventional. I went to use the one nearby my home the last two days and couldn't believe how much I've missed it. Today I was in there for about 45 min. at a 182 temp! Love the massive sweat you get going. Good luck using it, you will love the results! _________________

| An Infrared Sauna is a dry heat as opposed to a humid heat in traditional saunas...so you won't sweat as much. Recommended temps for safety as well as most benefits is between 120 and 130 degrees for a max 30 minutes a day.
I use one 3-4 times a week and it really helps keep my skin from getting dried out during P2, plus the relaxation and "time out" I get is priceless regardless if it helps with weight loss! _________________ Kami

| The one that I use is from Canada which allows for higher temps at a safe level. I have done this sauna at 109 degress and felt awesome. I like to know that it is doing it's job on the inside (unlike traditional) but also flushing the toxins with the sweat. The ones you can buy in the US do not go higher than 140 degrees most of the time. I could sit there all day and not work up a good sweat, which for me personally makes it feel even more worth it. Each person will have their own preference as to what level of the Far Infrared heat they can or want to endure. The hotter the better for me. _________________

| Please don't think I'm wanting to get into an argument here, each person has to decide on what they want to do for themselves with the information they have and I respect your decision, Kristi, to go at a higher temperature in the sauna. I hold nothing against you for that, it's your personal choice.
But I do believe that those who are interested in trying out using an infrared sauna should be informed before they use it so they can make their own personal decision. Just because a machine can go to a higher temperature doesn't necessarily mean it is safe. I would encourage someone who would like to use it at a higher temperature to educate themselves about the risks involved. As with any decision, you should not just listen to the recommendations of another person, but research it for yourself...even for this protocol...I know I didn't just take my friend's word for it and do it, I researched it to see if it was something I was willing to do after I was educated about it.
You can do the research, but exposing the body to prolonged temperatures over 130 degrees can cause blood vessels to break or stroke. There are some people who use the sauna at higher temps but for 5-10 minutes, and even at that you are taking risks.
I would just encourage anyone who would like to try the sauna to please don't just go by what is said here on a forum, but look into it and do the research and make your own decision. Even what I have just written should be validated by you personally before you decide... _________________ Kami

| I would love to go in it everyday but that would be wayyyyyyy too expensive, its $40 for 30 min. I didn't get a choice in how hot it was, I just got in. I think it got close to 150 at times, but mostly stayed around 110-120. I would of preffered hotter, i didn't really start sweating until the last ten minutes really. |

| I bought a portable far infrared sauna off of eBay for a little under $300. It's one of those that you sit on a folding chair inside a silver, quilted tent-like enclosure with your head sticking out of the top. I'm sure that it's not as good as the bigger, permanent FIR saunas, but it does just fine for me. I know that it detoxes, because when I get out, I stink so bad that I offend myself. I head right for the shower to wash off all of those nasty toxins that I've just pulled out of my body. I haven't been using it as much as I should. _________________

| Wow ! That is way expensive. Where I go I purchase a months pass to use all the equipment there including the FIR sauna for $100. I went again today and thoroughly enjoyed it! I always feel so much better. _________________
