PostSubject: Personal Products - lotions   Fri Jul 06 2007, 21:17

Has anyone found a decent deodorderant or antiperperant to use. I have tried the Toms natural brand. It smells good, but you still sweat with it on, and that feels yucky.

I am also a bit confused. I have seen comments that for dry skin some people were using mineral oil.

I definately remember in KT's book he wrote that you should not use skin products with propylene glycol, sodium laureth sulfate, or mineral oil.

I am using Tree Tea shampoo and conditioner, that works well.

Does anyone have a suggestion about washing dishes by hand? What kind of soap to use?

I absolutely love Aubreys deodorant. I use the E Plus High C style of roll on. I have always had a problem with only making it about half way through a day. Also in the a.m. I was noticed a problem with I awoke from the night. Since I have used this I have absolutely no problem at all. I even wake up "refreshed" lol!
My daughter bought if for her husband who is an electrician in new construction which means he is up in attics with direct sun on him and out in high temps, high humidity, and sweats all day in the summer heat. He comes home and she said he has no odor at all after working a10+ hour day. It works great under the conditions he works in also. I say its the way to go. Its sold at most health food stores. (you normally dont want to use an anti-perspirant since it blocks that glands or ducts or whatever they are that let the sweat out.)

On the dishwashing soap I purchased one called Life Tree I will be starting soon and I'll let you know about it how it works. I have used one that is called Earth Friendly Products Ultra Dishmate...I did not like it at all. Felt like I was just washing in water. Most natural ones will not bubble much so the look has a different look like your in water washing. It takes awhile to get used to that. The Earth Friendly brand also states to squeeze on sponge and wash.

Let us know if you find a dishwashing soap to use that seems to work well also.

For deodorant I use the crystal and I love it, I've used the crystal for about 10 years now. You can find them at any store that sells deodorant now days...
I use Shaklee products for all of my household cleaning, laundry and dishes. I get them locally from a distributor that I know but I'm sure you can look it up on-line to find a distributor close to you. They are very affordable too!

I think the crystal will work if you're not strong. I know of many people it works for....for me I've always had a problem but I tried it since it is reasonable, however, I could not use it without an odor quickly after applying. You may just need to try and see what will work for you out of the suggestions here.

I now use a crystal and won't go back to anti-perspirent. I started using it, but didn't apply very much. By the end of the day I would notice odor. I stopped using it. I wanted to go back to it now that I am in phase 2. I shave each morning and apply the wet crystal LIBERALLY. Sometimes I even apply a second time if I think it is going to be a rough day. I haven't had ANY odor and love that I am no longer using harsh chemicals. :)

PostSubject: Deodorant solution   Mon Jul 30 2007, 20:23

My husband and I do this, and we used to stink really bad, no matter how much deodorant we used. Get some bob's red mill natural baking soda, and put it in a bowl. Just keep the bowl covered up in your bathroom or wherever. When you're getting ready to use your deodorant, dip the entire exposed portion of your deodorant into the baking soda (firmly), so it leaves a nice baking soda film stuck to the top of your deodorant. Then, just apply it to your underarms. THIS DOES NOT FAIL!!! Hope this helps!

PostSubject: Soap, Shampoo, hair gel or any other hygiene products   Wed Aug 01 2007, 10:21

We still need to switch our products out. I've been using Aveda for as long as I can remember. I was hoping it would be OK, since it's all plant-derived and mineral oil free, but my doctor yesterday said that it has avocado and other plant fats, so it won't work for this diet.

So my question is: What products are you using specifically? Would you mind telling me brand names, please?

Also, my doctor said no sunscreen:GASP: I'm an esthetician and can't even *imagine* going outside without sunscreen. Any advice in this area? I was hoping to take my baby to the beach next month.

At the moment I am using non-organic stuff and did all through p2. I use Herbal Essence shampoo (it's clear, no fats) and I have a conditioner with very little oil/fat. I put it on and rinse it off all within about 10 seconds. Not enough is ever absorbed to make a difference.
Just go easy in the sun. Start now with about 10-15 min at a time. The sun is actually healthy for you and even just a bit of "sun glow" on your skin. It is the deep tan and burn that do the damage. Go to the beach in the morning and evening, use a big umbrella and light cover-up clothing over your swim suit.

PostSubject: Face wash   Fri Aug 03 2007, 11:15

I use a dime-size amount of cetaphil, combined with a tablespoon of baking soda. I rub them to make a paste, then use it as a face wash. I find it's good for maintaining moisture (gentle) as we are not allowed to use lotions. Also, it's a gentle exfoliant, and it's cheap!!! :-)

PostSubject: No body lotion at all???   Thu Aug 09 2007, 08:48

Do any of you ladies use body lotion at all...or even face cream? I must admit,Im afraid of my skin becoming dry. If you use it during ph2, which kinds do you use? I dont want it to affect my weight loss.

Here is a a link to a site that is a study on hcg regarding it's efficacy towards weight loss. It's a real upper, particularly for those that battle all the negative posts on other sites. One thing it deals with is the potency of hcg...the study indicates that hcg stored, even in the refrigerator, becomes less potent after a week! For those of you buying 5000 units at time, you may want to rethink this. It also mentions the use of moisturizers...it's not as bad as you think to use a hand lotion or facial moisturizers!!!! Read it for yourself! Go to

I also had a conversation and subsequent research with my neighbor who is bio-chemist. Kitchen oils, butter and margerine have molecules too large to pass through the skin into the blood stream. At the time Simeon's wrote his manuscript in 1953, this was not well known. While there are things that will pass directly through (turpentine, kerosene, arsenic, water, etc), most substances are caught and processed by and in the skin. That's what your skin was designed to do - catch the bad stuff before it poisons you! Most substances or toxins are excreted by sweating and never make it to the bloodstream. Most cosmetic lotions and skin creams are designed to be held by the skin in order to effect plumping out age lines and aiding dry skin. While there are water soluble fats that will eventually pass into your system, they have been so processed by the skin there is no real fat for the bloodstream to process. Therefore, no weight gain can be attributed to using hand cream or facial moisturizers.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm!

I have not dry but not oily skin. I didn't use any lotions and by the end my skin was a little dry. Nothing bad just a little dry. My biggest thing was my lips were so dry. I don't use lip stick which he says is ok but i didn't know about lip gloss. I think i used it 2 times b/c they were burning from being chapped. If it was something i wasn't sure on i just didn't do it. I didn't want to take any chances.

I've just started the crystal..I like it.

On dishsoap... (not professing that it's organic..) BUT.. I LOVE THIS STUFF.. it makes BUBBLES and EVERYTHING!

THE first day I used it.. I noticed when I unloaded the dishwaser (son uses) that the cups seemed.. shinyer?? THEN .. later in the day I went in the kitchen and the dishes in the rack were distractingly/noticably shinyer.. wow...

http://www.calbenpuresoap.com/

I ordered the $135 total package. I've never been happier with something in my life! The laundry soap is awesome too. SUDS!!! (That liquid crap I've been using for years .. NEVER had suds... too many chemicals, I guess)

CHECK IT OUT.. It is SUPER concentrated, and I can't imagine ordering anything for a YEAR maybe TWO! affraid
