Did any of you guys use a rebounder at all? I'm starting phase 2 today and I really don't have the money to waste to buy one if I don't need to.

The rebounder was a suggestion from KT"s book. I am sure any exercise you can do will be a plus. Just walking is good. I don't see that you should have to invest in piece of equipment to exercise. Simeon suggests light exercise like swimming and walking. He also suggests "light games of tennis"...yeah...that was big back in the day!

Rebounding has so many health benefits I would definately suggest investing in one. I like the Urban Rebounder, you can get them for about $100 on line at urbanrebounding.com. I have seen others in the sporting goods stores for as low as $39. Here is a list of the health benefits of rebounding:

1. It increases the capacity for respiration.
2. It circulates more oxygen to the tissues.
3. It establishes a better equilibrium between the oxygen required by
the tissues and the oxygen made available.
4. It causes muscles to perform work in moving fluids through the
body to lighten the heart's load.
5. It tends to reduce the height to which the arterial pressures rise
during exertion.
6. It lessens the time during which blood pressure remains
abnormal after severe activity.
7. It holds off the incidence of cardiovascular disease.
8. It increases the functional activity of the red bone marrow in the
production of red blood cells.
9. It aids lymphatic circulation, as well as the flow in the veins of the
circulatory system.
10. It encourages collateral circulation.
11. It strengthens the heart and other muscles in the body so that
they work more efficiently.
12. It allows the resting heart to beat less often.
13. It lowers elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
14. It stimulates the metabolism.
15. It promotes body growth and repair.
16. It tones up the glandular system, especially the thyroid to
increase its output.
17. It adds to the alkaline reserve of the body which may be of
significance in an emergency requiring prolonged effort.
18. It chemically attains absolute potential of the cells.
19. It reserves bodily strength and physical efficiency.
20. It expands the body's capacity for fuel storage and endurance.
21. It improves coordination through the transmission of nerve
impulses and responsiveness of the muscle fibers.
22. It affords muscular vigor from increased muscle fiber tone.
23. It offers relief from neck and back pains, headaches, and other
pain caused by lack of exercise.
24. It enhances digestion and elimination processes.
25. It allows for better and easier relaxation and sleep.
26. It results in a better mental performance, with keener learning
processes.
27. It curtails fatigue and menstrual discomfort for women.
28. It minimizes the number of colds, allergies, digestive
disturbances, and abdominal problems.
29. It tends to slow down aging.
30. It reduces the likelihood of obesity.

Sorry it's such a long post but I think it is very helpful information!

I borrowed the one my 78 year old mom uses!! I actually loved it because it was something I could do easily, even after a knee injury. You can also do slowly since you are not to exert yourself at all with your exercise. 10 minutes couple times a day is all you need so it doesnt use much of your time. someone said they bought their really reasonably on ebay. I will probably buy my own when my mom is ready to re-bound again.

Hi ALL....

I got my rebounder from Walmart for $19.99. Please, please don't spend more than you have to! You could probably even go on Walmarts website, buy one and have it shipped if there is not a Walmart near you. I have seen some ads that sell them for over $100! Jeeez Louise!! Its all about the research! Good luck! trampouline

Cher, Yes you bounce, hop, and whatever else you can do going up and down to amuse yourself. I actually get on mine especially when I feel like I'm getting a little problem coming on....sinus inf. or just feeling a little down. It will help the immune system and clean it out so I figure it will help. You get a little board, however, you dont actually stay on that long so you can entertain yourself for that amount of time cheering Its also good for anyone that seems to have problems with not being able to walk much they can just shift their weight back and forth. Anyone with bad knees can also benefit from it. I highly rec. it to anyone.
great to get your endurance up or start an exercising routine.

I have a Bellicon rebounder that I love, with bungee cords instead of springs, but you can get the same benefit from a less expensive spring model. My girlfriend bought the cheapest she could find and loves it just the same.

As for the type of exercise, you do not have to do jumping jacks or any kind of major workout on it. Even at my naturopath it was highly recommended that I do a gentle bounce (and that is sufficient). You really are thinking... are they cracked? How can you just bounce a couple of inches up and down and get any benefit at all?!

A rebounder works on your lymphatic system, and will also naturally help tone your stabilizing/balancing muscles. It is great, and fun, but I still need to make it a habit. I think my girls are on it more than I am!

Even in Kevin's first weight loss CD, the rebounder was recommended and is considered by many a perfect type of exercise for any age or ability.
