I have read a number of posts that refer to the body doing housekeeping or playing catch up after a lot of fat burning. The part that has me confused is this. If the fat cells are filling with water before they are sloughed away or broken down, how does that relate to the overall number of fat cells someone has in their body? I thought we kept (unfortunately) all of our fat cells in a drained/shrunk state poised and ready to fill back up again much to our dismay. Are we actually dismantling and removing cells? If so, are the remaining ones just getting bigger if we regain any weight?
